App for Barclays and another card back to back?

Postby credit_card_fonz » Fri May 24, 2013 7:39 pm

I'm asking for somebody else, but I got really curious even knowing what it did to the poor cat.

Okay, let's say someone had average credit, say they were borderline for the BarClay card for average credit. So what would happen then if someone applied for a Capital One Cash Rewards card $39 AF then as soon as they were approved applied for the BarClay card - if they applied for BarClay quick enough after applying for Cap1, the Cap1 app wouldn't show up on their credit reports before the BarClay approval. Would BarClay later do an AA because both were applied for at the same time?

I'm just curious.

Barclay watches you for 6 months after approval/AO Date so even if they don't see it when they process your application, they will later, and are notorious for shutting accounts down for new accounts/pulls in the first 6 months. They may not mind, but YMMV, its a significant risk with them.
Sole Ownership Cards:
1st Financial Bank Platinum Student Visa, $500 CL, Open Since 3/2012
Citi Forward Student Visa, $6k CL, Open Since 10/2012
Costco TrueEarnings Amex, $6k CL, Backdates to 1/2012
SallieMae Rewards Barclay Mastercard, $2.5k CL, Open Since 4/2013
Jointly Owned Cards (co-owner with mom, not AU, used and paid only by me):
Chase Amazon Rewards Visa Signature, $2k CL, Open Since 8/2012
US Bank Cash+ Visa Signature, $13.5k CL, Open Since 10/2012
Authorized User (Parents Pay/Use)
Costco TrueEarnings Amex $29.4k CL, AU since 11/2012

You're apparently just like me someone who likes to live dangerously if you are seriously thinking of trying that.

I would agree, don't do it. Unless you just gotta see if you can pull it off. But might be wiser to not do that.

I'm asking for someone else. Applying for Cap1 would be crazy in itself.
