Anyway to get Barclay for average credit now and Priceline later?

For just about anything you want to get off your chest about credit cards.

Anyway to get Barclay for average credit now and Priceline later?

Postby s.jessica » Sat May 18, 2013 7:50 pm

I've been giving some serious consideration to going after the Barclay card for average credit. It's something I might be able to get and there's no AF. That's all I'm really looking at. The problem is, I would like to try for a Priceline Visa when my credit comes up but how would I get around their one card limit if I get the card for average credit now?

I know Barclay wants you to wait 6 months before doing an app for another card, so wait 6 months, app for another card then how long to wait to cancel this one and how long to wait before trying for priceline? My current choices right now are Barclay for average credit or Cap1.

I didn't know they had a one card limit?

It seems like it would not be good to app for something to keep for 6 months, then close that out and try for something else. It hits you with 2 inquiries and you are keeping your AAoA down. And starting the Barclay 6 month rule all over again.

Apply for the barclays and priceline back to back. If you dont get approved for the proceline now just try again in a few months. Worst case scenerio you get denied but you get both pulls out the way and barclays 6month period is refering to thier cards not other card companys.

The 6 month period is the amount of time you don't want to apply for anything else after you get a Barclay's card or you risk AA. I've read reports of them closing accounts or slashing your limit because of this. .If you are marginal and have to recon to get a card with them, you are subject to being watched like a hawk.

Do they also have a 6 month period between getting new cards of theirs even if you get instant approval or something?

I just checked with another forum and I may have had a misunderstanding about the card. I keep getting the advice to go for a better card than this, but the average credit one is what I feel most comfortable applying for now. Also, it's better in most ways than going for another Cap1.

IMHO, Cap1 is a little screwed up, they make you take 3 hard pulls then might offer you something really crappy. I was looking the cards over and the Journey card for students is no AF with cash rewards. The Newcomers cash rewards card is no AF and has rewards. I learned the card I have to apply for is a Platinum card with $19 AF and no rewards. Just how messed up is that? What they are saying is if I want no AF, I have to renounce my citizenship, move to Mexico then come back across the border illegally. They informed me on another forum if I tried for the Newcomer's card, I could be charged with fraud against a credit card company since I'm not new to the country.

Well if you do that, be sure to move to California. I was reading how they pay for the college of the illegals out there. And you'd probably get better health care too than we citizens.

Sounds more like a good idea all the time if you really think about it. And they'll even give you amnesty it sounds like so then you're legal. Haven't heard that you'll get 10,000 in cash for doing it, but that's maybe in Phase 2.
