There was an interesting one on MyFICO this morning. As soon as I read the post I thought it's only a matter of time before the mods lock and delete. Sure enough it was locked half an hour later and then gone shortly after. I imagine the OP got banned.

This forum has a lot less of that going on which is good. You don't have to be 100% PC here unlike MyFICO, but we don't have personal attacks and that kind of thing. Kinda nice we can all just share our experiences and even opinions on cards and the like.

By the way SRT, kind of off topic, but man do I love those SRT8s. Don't have one as they are a bit out of my price range, but wow what a machine they are.

Thanks MemberSince99. It's even better once you crack open the motor (bore and stroke), do more mods and add a blower ;)

MyFICO sounds like a pretty lame site if all the mods do is censor and delete threads.

I should have a look in there and see what it's all about. Bet it's really hard to post (i.e. you need many posts cleared by the moderator before you can post at will)

Lots of people tend to find this forum and read the posts, but the same few people seem to contribute - we could do like yahoo answers and give points for answering questions, 2 points just for answering and 10 points for best answer, but then you have people with no clue answering a question just for the points. I'd rather have 1 answer from someone who knows what they are talking about rather than 15 answers from clueless people. While this forum may not seem big, I've found some really good information here.

I come here the most of any credit forum because I'm not crazy about places that think you need to have booth feet firmly planted in the garden. Well, see everyone in the garden!

I'm clueless but I do my best to share what I know :) I'm happy to share if it helps someone else great. If nothing else hopefully it's an interesting read and you learn, as often from my mistakes as successes. I share it all figure someone can use it.

Yeah I always get a kick out of that whole garden thing too. Someone gets a new card and the typical response is "congrats now get to the garden!!!!" Take their advice with a grain of salt. If it makes sense for you to refrain from applying for a while, great, if not, it's your life and your credit so do what makes sense for you and benefits you. And even if you make a mistake, and apply and get an inquiry and a card you don't like with a toy limit, or no card, it's not like you are destroyed for life, so long as you learn something and are closer to your goals, I say great. Much of what I've learned has come from making mistakes. I've probably made about all of them you can make and maybe invented new mistakes along the way. As long as you learn what you can and move on and try a new approach, it's all good and you will be better for it in the end.

Ok enough on the soapbox. Happy Gardening :)

We're glad to have you here SRT!

I have to ask you - does that Centurion get plenty of attention when you pull it out? (The card of course!) I'm guessing yes, but not sure if most people realize the significance of it?

MermberSince99,

It really all depends when and where you pull it out. Not always do you get comments but when you do it's almost always the same ones....

* oh it's so heavy
* wow I hear you can charge a lot on this

I have on a few occasions had clerks show it off to a co-worker. This I find mainly happens out in Asia. I was in Shanghai and the young lady pretty much showed it to all her co-workers before running my charge. I was not impressed. This is not what anyone wants..... so from that perspective, the card can bring you unwanted attention. Here in North America, I just get the above comments and the excessive handling of the card to inspect it.

I like it when people just run the charge and move on. It can be embarrassing when they make such a big deal about it; especially for those standing next to you in line waiting.

The card is an amazing tool however to help you get through your daily life. The concierges and access to front of line and reservations for dining is top notch. I use this always and have Amex book my events.

Basically my personal belief is to keep things simple and be polite. I answer questions about the card when asked. There is no need to be a douchbag about it. I find being a gentleman not only speaks accurately of me, but also paints a better picture of Cent cardholders. We are all the same, just on different parts of our journey called life.

Hope this answers your questions
