Z- I would think that would be the max limit they grant. So for example, I make 150k every year. If I did, the max CL through any card I would apply through them would be 30k, spread out through various cards. So say someone is approved for the Marriott , United, and Freedom cards, they can switch the CL around based on the income. So one can have 14k on the Marriott, 7k on the United, and 9k on the Freedom and vice versa. At least I would think so, and I just noticed this, but I could be wrong on how Chase assigns limits, but I realized they gave me 20% of my gross income in my initial approval.

Thanks Snowman. .Congrats on your approval for the Freedom that's a great card as well they have some very nice 5% rotating categories on that.

Actually I didn't realize that. In my case honestly I'm thrilled with the 5k (if Discover had given me that, which they gave me a year ago oddly enough, I'd have kept that card). I'm sure it will grow with time, but honestly 5k is sufficient for now. But I did not know that. So thanks for bringing that up.

No plans to go for anything else, except maybe the Freedom next year. Honestly a single 5k card would meet my needs at the present time. If I travelled a lot that might be different but right now that would actually work. I'm glad to get more of course, that's just human nature!

But thanks!

And Z06 I'm sorry about the hard pull at least it was worth it, they gave you a nice bump there.

Just wanted to give an update - I found that Chase pulled 2 CRAs for the inquiry - TU as expected and also EX. I don't have monitoring on EQ but I'd be shocked if they pulled that. From what I read on MyFICO it seems that is becoming more common. Just a heads up that they may do this.

Do I still think it was worth it? Yeah, personally I do. I'd take a hit on all 3 if I had to for that particular card.

Thank you chan35. With your scores you should hopefully have that card someday soon.

No problem 99. Yes it is a really good card and they have been very pleasant to deal with in the very short time I have been with them. And the categories help also. No problem again...I didn't realize it until I looked at my limit and was shocked at the pretty nice limit they have given me (I don't make that much, so a nice limit like that is a very good sign of my credit progression.) You could try for a Freedom and see what happens, they approved you a CSP, so I think you have a shot if you take it, especially with your scores it could be an easy approval. Don't worry about Discover, they are a good company to be in with also, but EXTREMELY stingy on their CL's. I don't really need one or want one so I'm good. But I can understand the frustration. Congrats still.

Thanks Snowman. I thought all you guys out in CA made a lot of money? Is the cost of living pretty high out there in LA county?

Yeah Discover is something else. I love their CS, and honestly the rewards are good, just man they sometimes seem to want to be Cap One as far as limits.

As far as Freedom, I'm really not that much looking for a new card right at the moment, but it's on my radar for "someday" as a nice to have with those 5% rotating categories. I'd like to lay off the inquiries for a while now. This year I have 1 from FNBO, 1 from Discover, 1 from US Bank and 2 from Chase. The by bureau count is EX: 2 EQ: 1 TU: 2. Not terrible, especially if I let that sit a bit, but I'd really like to just sit back and see if I get some CLIs. Especially from Associated I've put a LOT of money through that signature visa lately and it's been a year since I got the card I'd like to see if they will bring me to 10k without a hard pull.

No problem 99. Haha, not all of us do. I'm a student so that explains a lot. My parents make six figures where I live and let me live with them because there is no way I could live on what I currently make. Yeah, to be honest it's like living in any other place, but in general living in LA county can be outrageously expensive. Where I live, most people make 90k+ every year or more, and even rent here runs anywhere from 1,400 to 1,800 a month depending on where you live. In a couple of years, if the state starts hiring again for the Highway Patrol (this is what I truly want as a career, and I am working on getting in shape and doing my best in school until they hire again) I want to move to the central valley where it's a little bit more cheaper to live. It all depends where you are going to live but generally the farther you get away from the cities and more into the desert areas it's cheaper. But I was originally born in Sacramento and I lived in the Natomas area until my family wanted to move, and I never went back. I am very fortunate to live the way I do. But if you ever do plan to move to California or know anybody that wants to move, be prepared to pay a butt load of taxes and have a decent income (60k+ would be ideal) because it is difficult to live here unless you make a good living. I have another friend that lives in San Francisco and he says that it is even more expensive up there....again, depends where you live, some places are cheap, and some are expensive. Have you ever been to any part of California?

Their CS is good, and I've never really had any issues with them, I've ran hundreds of dollars through them and yet still no CLI. But I'm currently happy with my small limits, so a CLI would be pretty generous of them. I just wish BOFA would raise my CL. I've had the same CL with them since I opened my card last year and spend quite a bit with them on a monthly basis.

Well you could give it a try for the Freedom, since it seems like they are willing to forgive you and let you try for their cards. I got the card I really wanted, and I hope to someday qualify for the CSP or at least an airline/hotel based card. I currently have 4 on EX, and 2 on EQ and TU. Unfortunately for me, everyone pulls EX, which is my worst report, and nobody pulls TU out here. Yeah give it a go with Associated, and see what happens. You've got some good cards and CL's so you should be set for a while in any case but do go for it.

Some of the rents in this area can get up to that level too. I think that's nuts - I'd rather pay a mortgage if I'm going to pay that. It would actually be cheaper most likely. I pay just under a thousand and think that's too much and up here you get long nasty winters.

I've been to CA been to Sacto back in 95. Found it very beautiful out there. Not sure it's where I'd want to live, honestly, but I'm not sure I want to live here either it just kind of happened that way. (I know I'm not taking charge of my life but to do that you have to know where you want to go and I haven't figured that out so in the meantime I stay here).

I hope you do get in as state patrol, don't give up your dreams!

Yeah I give kudos to Chase. I'm hoping to fully rebuild with them over time. Honestly I like and feel loyalty to my bank (Associated) so I don't plan to move to Chase because of that (silly sentiment isn't it?) but if that changes, I would. But yeah, I could see going for Freedom I just want to give it some time. I was thinking, possibly at the end of December, to do one last inquiry this year, that will be more than 6 months from now to give some history with Chase, and nothing will be too new then.

I have heard everyone pulls EX in CA. But luckily in 6 months it won't matter and you have some nice cards too as long as they grow with time you'll be in great shape!
