WTF? Citizens bank secured credit card?

Postby matas diango » Sat May 11, 2013 8:45 pm

Does Citizens Bank have a secured credit card or not??? First I try finding the answer myself by calling but when you call 1-800-922-9999 it keeps asking for my credit card number to talk to someone when I don’t have one.

On it says there IS a secured card but then when I go to the bank website can’t find it and the link in the answer goes to some article.

The guy on Ask who said there is one, by the looks of his typing he is a foreigner and doesn’t seem to know what he is talking about. WTF why is he answering questions when he is clearly WRONG because there is NOT a secured credit card from Citizens Bank from what I can tell?

Those Q&A sites aren't always reliable. Half the time it seems like the people answer the question are in no way qualified to do so - your example case in point!

The CORRECT answer to your question is that unfortunately there is not a Citizens Bank secured card version. The unsecured versions will require good credit to be approved.

If you want a good alternative, here is one that CreditCardForum advertises and it's the most popular:

As far as the reason why Citizens Bank doesn't have one, as I was recently explaining to someone else, secured cards are less profitable for banks right now because the Federal Reserve is keeping interest rates at close to zero. Because of that, banks don't earn much interest on your security deposit, and hence, those types of cards are harder to find these days. For a smaller bank like Citizens it's no surprise that they don't have one right now.

I wish you the best of luck in rebuilding your credit!
