Looking for a new one (very little credit) HELP

Postby bobbyburns34 » Sat May 04, 2013 11:01 pm

Ok, well ive had my capital one secured card for 6 months now, all 6 payments on time. it was my first card and only thing ive used to build my credit so card so its the only thing on file.

i checked on credit karma which i know isnt accurate and says im 679 which is obviously because i have only 6 months of history. Also i had a 200 limit and they recently raised it to 300 outta no where which i guess is good.

well now i wanna get another card, i dont wanna apply and get turned down i wanna apply and get it for sure. id like a card with no charge for the year or w/e its called.

i just wanna put a dollar or two a month to get the card active and do it continuously with the capital one card and build up some credit.

Well you can always apply for what you want the worst they can do is say no and it costs you an inquiry. Having said that I would not go after high end cards, something like Discover IT might be possible. You still have a bit of a thin file but after a year of good history, you should be good for Chase Freedom/Amex charge and things like this. Adding Discover now might be a good idea if they approve. Also Barclays, since they are relatively easy to recon with and you won't be applying for anything else (if you're smart) for 6 months afterwards.
