Citi questions/rant

Postby andy1088 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 11:01 pm

Hey guys,

I had a really bad experience with a rep from Citi yesterday. I called inquiring about cancelling my Thank you card due to lack of credit line (a meager $500) and to see if they could offer me anything. The rep told me there was no CLI available and I threatened to close both my Citi cards. He said he was going to speak to his "supervisor" placed me on a 5-7 minute hold and then got back on told me there was nothing he could do and I told him okay then I'll hold on to my card for a few more months. "Don't worry sir I already cancelled it while you were on hold" and of course I was like what the heck? He cancelled it without warning me, without my permission and while I was on hold! It took me another 20 minutes, but I had to beg his supervisor to restore my card. Then being the idiot that I am I applied for a Thank you Preferred card and got nailed for recent inquiries (went on a spree for Cap1, Discover and Chase only got approved for the Sapphire). What can I do to both tell Citi about the horrible experience I had and try to recon the card?

Why didn't you stick to your guns and cancel the card? Could you ask them to combine the two limits onto one card (hopefully the TY)?

I understand your frustration but I guess you shouldnt have threatened to close the cards unless you were serious about it.

I still have the TY card, they just gave me a hard time reopening it. How can I recon the TYP card?
