Can you apply for multiple credit cards from the same company?

For just about anything you want to get off your chest about credit cards.

Can you apply for multiple credit cards from the same company?

Postby jonlien » Wed Apr 17, 2013 4:24 pm

I already have a Citibank AAdvantage card. Can I apply for another credit card product from Citibank even though I already have one with the same company? Thanks.

Absolutely. A lot of companies/banks will eventually look at the amount of cards you have with them (ie. Amex allows only 4 lending products, and 4 charge card products regardless of "personal" or "business" at any given time -- this was verified to me over the phone yesterday) or total credit line offered to you (ie. Chase), but you're definitely able to get more than 1 card per bank.

Many banks want you to use them for all areas of your life, since each card has a different reward, APR or balance transfer incentive. I think I met a guy once who had 6 Citi cards??
AMEX: PRG Gold, Business Simply Cash, Business Costco, BCE.
Chase: United MileagePlus Club, Sapphire Preferred, Amazon Rewards
Barclaycard Arrival World Mastercard
HSBC Cash or Fly World Mastercard
USAA World Mastercard, USAA Platinum Mastercard
Wells Fargo Business Platinum
USC Credit Union Mastercard

I originally had signed up for one forward card, the other two were automatically converted from outdated products. I still have 2 forward cards. I should probably do another product change

Thanks guys! I appreciate the response. I already have a Citibank AAdvantage with a $40K limit. Should I ask for a CLI or should I get another Citibank card?

With a $40K limit, do you really *need* another card??
