Apparently I'm on their radar!

Postby JSS3 » Sun Mar 31, 2013 8:37 am

Seems I've caught the eyes of a credit company even with my very limited and new history. A credit company that I desperately want their card! I've never received credit card offers in the mail. I just got a "pre-approved" offer from Discover IT. . I'm so tempted to apply but feel it was a mistake somehow. I'm sticking to my plan to build up 6months worth of history before applying for anything else. My current AAoA is 0yrs 2months. Between Fingerhut and Capital One, someone put me on the map. I'm guessing it's the latter. I say this because I have 2 Cap One accounts. The second one I got this month so it hasn't even been reported yet. Technically, none of my Cap One cards have reported.

Here is the ironic thing though, that second one is where I put my middle initial on the application to differentiate between cards(yes, I am aware you can design your own card). One of my CO has my 1st and last name. The second has first name, middle initial, and last name. The Discover IT application has my first name, middle initial, and last name. No other mail that I receive from any company uses all 3. So I've concluded, somehow, the Capital One, esp the second card, put me on the map(as far as getting Discover's attention). I'm sure Fingerhut has helped too of course. It must've helped being it's the only reported account as of now. Hmm. What do you all think? FYI, Fingerhut only has first and last name listed on that card.

I won't be applying at this time(for more reasons than one) but it feels good to be noticed and sought after. :D

I think based on what I've seen and experienced with Discover, your Cap One cards will probably get a CLI before your Discover would. Not sure why you are so eager for a Discover, to be honest. The rewards are ok, the CSRs are the only part of that which is outstanding. The limits tend to low and YMMV but they can be stingy.

But yeah, it is nice to be noticed if that's a card you are after.
