Barclays still reporting on closed card

Postby hematino » Fri Mar 29, 2013 10:51 pm

Something weird is happening on my credit report with Barclays. I had a US Airways Mastercard through with them that was opened in the spring of last year, and they AA'ed me in November after an apporama. My account was closed. It also is marked closed on my credit reports, and they stopped reporting monthly on the account.

Then in February I opened a Barclaycard Rewards Mastercard, and now Barclays is reporting on the closed US Airways account also. I have a service that lets me refresh my credit report daily, and I check it often, one day I noticed all the monthly boxes between November when they stopped reporting and March are now all filled in as "OK." The account does still say closed and the status is paid. I have no idea why they're still reporting on this.

Is this gonna count towards the age of the closed account? It seems like it would look to creditors that the account is closed but has a longer history than it actually had.

Don't trust 3rd party services. Get your reports directly from the CRAs. The tradeline might be different on there.

At first I was thinking someone got a hold of your ID form the title of the thread but now it appears it just another mistake by a creditor. I would talk to a supervisor, get their name and contact info so it can be corrected. It may be showing 2 newly opened accounts thereby affecting your credit score.
