Did You Know There Was An Amex Bluebird For Target?!

Postby swipe_masta » Thu Mar 28, 2013 2:20 am

"American Express for Target" is essentially setup like Bluebird for Walmart!

They also have "exclusive" Amex offers for members, just like a Amex cc.

Did anyone know? How does it fare to Bluebird?

I just learned about it reading this thread! I know people who won't have anything to do with WalMart but they would go out of their way to shop Target (Tar-shay for the rich folks). Bluebird is getting better, you can now direct deposit government funds, so your SS, government paycheck and tax refund can be direct deposited. They added the ability to write checks on your account and now have FDIC insurance. They are trying hard to make Bluebird one of the best prepaid cards out there.

The Amex for Tar-shay has a little ways to go, but does have some good features. I did notice cash loads at Target cost $3 (Free at Walmart) and you can't just request one online, you have to go to Target, purchase the card, pay $3 for the first load and then load at least $.01. It wasn't clear on the website if you can get the Target card if you already have a Bluebird card, but it did say you can have 2 Target cards providing both are not purchased on the same day. Maybe I'll see if I can get one to compare. Not much lost if it doesn't work out.

I wonder if it can take the Vanilla Reloads? Doesn't say anything about using it for bill pay, but it could make a handy ATM card since I don't have one of those. Keep $100 on it to minimize issues if it's lost or stolen.

I got one the other day. Just so you know, anticipate it taking a few minutes. You have to enter in information, SS, birthdate and etc, on the touch screen. You will get a temp card, which you can use and in a couple days AMEX will send you a card with your name on it.

I have been looking for one of these cards, but it appears the closest store that has them is 45 minutes away. I wish there was a way tha tI could sign up online for it.
