Just signed up to this forum an hour or so ago. Performed a search on 'rebuilding credit' and found the exact answer to my question prior to posting said question.
Got approved for a Cap One card! Let the 'rebuild' begin!! :)

Thanks!

Congratulations to you! Enjoy your rebuilding.

A few hints to help you with Cap One. You should get one CLI through the "steps" program, and then you might not ever see one again, but by the time you can get better cards you won't care and will close this account anyway.

Cap One tends to hold your payment for up to 10 days when you start out, and with the small limit, that can cramp you, and filling your tank and getting groceries will probably max out your card for up to 2 weeks even if you pay immediately after the charges post a couple of days later. To get around this, once you've made your payment, call them and ask them to restore your limit. It's a PITA but the only workaround I know of for this. Eventually they may stop doing that once they are comfortable with you.

Make sure you pay most of the balance BEFORE it hits, as you don't have to have much of a balance to have high utilization with these cards.

I hope this is helpful to you and you have a wonderful journey of rebuilding!
