Which credit card companies pull Experian in 2013?

Postby neptunejcw » Wed Mar 13, 2013 1:32 pm

Just curiuos are there any companies who pull Experian for credit card applications?

My Experian report is the cleanest & I only have 2 inquires on it. I'm wondering if I can sneak in another line of credit through that report being ran.

No card that is worth having is going to approve you if you have too many inquiries. It also depends on whether you were approved or declined with the two inquires you already have.

What are you expecting to get? IMO you shouldn't just go around applying for cards you don't really need or even want solely because they pull Experian. With that said, it also depends on what card you are really looking for.

I know for a fact that Amex and BofA pull Experian. CapitalOne pulled my Equifax but I heard that they pull Experian too. Chase I heard pulls Experian. But like I said, no card worth having from any of these companies is going to approve you with too many inquiries. I know from experience that Amex, BofA, and CO don't like it and Im sure Chase feels the same.

Each lender pulls different reports in different states.

There is a website whose name I won't mention. They have a datebase of credit pulls. A simple google search will find it for you.

Almost all my apps go on Experian in Massachusetts. Meanwhile, some people I've seen get EQ pulls from the same companies.

My Limits:
NFCU NavCheck: $15,000/NFCU Platinum: $11,500/NFCU nRewards: $8,000
Chase Freedom: $6,500/Chase Slate: $6,000/CSP: $5,000/Marriott Rewards Primier: $5,000/United MileagePlus Explorer: $5,000/Southwest Primier: $3,000
Citi Hilton HHonors: $9,700/Citi Simplicity: $8,200/Citi Forward: $5,500
AMEX Blue Cash Everyday: $8,000/SPG AMEX: $5,000/AMEX Everyday: $5,000/AMEX Delta Skymiles Platinum: $3,400
Discover IT: $7,700
Barclay's NFL Extra Points (Carolina Panthers): $5,000
DCU Platinum: $3,000
RTN FCU CC: $2,000
CCCU Platinum Rewards Visa: $2,000

Current total limit: $129,500

It does heavily depend on your geographic location. The database Calipso mentioned is what I look at too before apping for anything, and its almost always right. As far as lenders that typically pull Experian all the time regardless of location, the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are American Express and JCB. Capital One often pulls all three reports, and their offerings are never worth three hard pulls in my opinion.

Here in California, Chase has Pulled me EX file, along with Citi and Amex. Amex, however has pulled all three of my reports when I got approved for my PRG. Discover Pulled TU for me, and when I got my phone AT&T pulled EQ. On the creditboards database it is pretty accurate and whenever I have an HP, for some reason EX is always pulled. Just stay low on the inquires and time your apps and you should be okay and be approved for whatever cards you might try for.
Bank Of America: BankAmeriCard Cash Rewards-4.2k
Citi: Forward-4.5k American Airlines Advantage Platinum Select World Elite MasterCard 9/6/15-4K
Discover: More-7k
Amex BCE.2k- Amex SPG-5k
Chase: Freedom-5kSouthwest Rapid Rewards Plus- 3.6k
Capital one: Venture one-10,000, Visa Signature.

Generally what is said is true however for me Chase pulled TU. Amex has only ever pulled EX for me and they are known to pull that. Cap One pulls all 3 of them.

Also Amex approved me for 3 card with a boatload (greater than 10) inquiries. I keep hearing they are inquiry sensitive, but as always YMMV so it's really hard to set this rule in stone that "if you have more than 3 inquires Amex will NOT under any circumstances approve you", because someone will always prove that your rule failed if you do.

For me, also BofA did pull EX as did FIA. Also Citi has pulled EX for me every time I app'd with them (4 times over the last 2 years, every single time a decline of course). Hope this helps.

I wasn't able to get my Experian report online (stupid ambiguous security questions), but, from the Equifax and TransUnion reports I can say that, for a CLI, Chase pulled at least those two and BOA pulled TU in DC. It really does depend. The lender for my 2nd mortgage pulled only Equifax (and maybe Experian, still waiting for that one to be mailed), but BOA pulled all three for my first mortgage.
CSP $19K
UMP $11.5K
Target Visa $1.5K
