New car next may

Postby ncosky290 » Thu Feb 21, 2013 2:03 pm

I just applied for several cards within a week. 4. Citi, Chase, Amex, Discover. Got amex and discover approved. denied the citi and chase. If i do not app for anything until next may when i trade my lease in will my credit be affected by inquires. I have 9 that will be on there next may 2014 but none would be within a year from then. I heard they inquires stay on for 2 years but only matter for 1 year. Is this true.

Yes. After one year they no longer affect your score. Some places only look at the last 6 months and do not care about after that.
Discover IT - $5,700
Chase Freedom - $5,700
Costco Citi - $13,000
Sallie Mae - $4,000
Chase Sapphire Preferred - $6,000
Chase Sapphire Reserve - $19,500
Citi Double Cash - $6,500
Amex BCE - $13,000

FICOs: Discover (777), SallieMae (764), Amex (767), Citi (772)
FAKOs: CK- TU (760), EQ (760)

I can confirm that this is indeed the case in certain areas of consumer credit underwriting. Depending on the product and the lender, 3/6/12 months are commonly used. Relative to insurance scores, recent auto tradelines will count against you and have an upward influence in ones auto rates in many states.
