Waiting impatiently for my Freedom decision...

Postby Drudai » Wed Feb 20, 2013 4:58 pm

A few days ago, I decided to take the plunge and apply for Chase Freedom Mastercard. I was denied in December for Discover, but I bucked up and decided to go for it after getting my utilization under 3% for the last couple of months.

They didn't deny me instantly, (hooray!) but they also didn't approve me. They said it would need further review and I would get my answer in the mail in 10-14 days. I don't want to call in fear of just hearing "you'll get your answer in the mail", since I wasn't denied I can't recon.

Suppose I'll just have to wait. 3/10~14 days.

How about anyone else? Ever been put on the fence like this with Chase?

Have you looked at your credit profile recently? Would there be any reason that you can think of that is sending them a red flag? Something is obviously there for them to have to review their decision.

Probably my short credit history. My first card just hit a year this month.

But I was approved for a Sears card with a 2k limit last month, so I'm not too stressed about looking bad. :)

I just want a real card. :( This Capital One is not cutting it for what I want out of a card.

1 year of credit history and 4 hard inquires.....to a lender they might see that as someone who is desperate to rack up debt. My advice, if you don't get approved, use your cap-one card and pay that in full every month for a year and try again. Establish some history and maybe you'll have better luck. Good luck :)

Since this is Chase, odds are it's a denial. Not 100%, but odds are you were declined.

I would call their backdoor analysts number, which if you don't know it I will post it for you (don't call the CS line they will not be able to help you) and ask for a reconsideration. Try multiple times if you have to. It really depends on the analyst you get, and Chase allows their analysts freedom (bad pun) to help you get the card.

Me I was declined and had to recon 3 times to get the Freedom. Hopefully you can do it with one try. Good luck and let us know how it turns out and again if you need that backdoor number just let me know.

You have a Freedom card? Update your signature!

The chances of you calling the same representative are really low. You just had terrible luck getting the same representative when you called in again.

I did have a Freedom but I closed it months ago. My signature represents every card I have right now. And honestly it's more than I really want, so as soon as any of them screws with me, they'll be closed too. I'd say that's only a matter of time.

And how calling multiple times is better is that you will probably get a different analyst and that makes all the difference. I didn't call back 10 minutes later, I called a couple of days later. But do what you want.

Just got a call from Chase, they just needed to verify my information!

I'm doing back flips right now, I was approved!

Yes, foot in the door for a card that will actually GROW with me!
