First of all, I would like to thank this site for being a very informative resource. Kudos to the administrators and all the members!
I came here as an immigrant June 2012 to marry my then-fiance. I knew how important it is to establish good credit here in the US, so I was intent on starting early, especially since my spouse is not a credit-believer (that's why I couldn't count on his nonexistent credit score).:P I applied for the Capital One Newcomers card in August and was so happy to have been approved (albeit the $300 initial limit)!
Recently they increased it to $500 w/o me asking, and a week later I got an offer in the mail for the Discover It card. I really want another card just so I could have a larger combined limit but I'm also weary about how it can affect my score. I don't have any problems with managing credit (I had a handful of gold & platinum cards way back home, not to boast), I just want getting the perks I can get from them in addition to working towards an excellent credit score. I pay in full every month, on time.
So my question is:
Should I apply for new credit now? It's been 6 months since I got my first card. I just want another one, but I also plan on applying for a car loan this May.
Other info that might help: my creditkarma score is 727, my annual gross income is 60k, and I have a decent amount of money in the bank since I'm not a big spender
Thanks in advance for your advice!
