How to get chipped card in the U.S.?

Postby waffled » Mon Feb 04, 2013 4:50 pm

I travel very much (2-4 countries/year) and not having a chipped card can be a hassle, does anyone know of any chipped cards offered in the U.S.? Would be awesome if Discover IT was available with a chip.
AMEX: Premier Rewards Gold, Delta Gold, Delta Platinum, Omaha.
Discover: IT
Mastercard: Capital One Platinum, Citi Diamond Preferred, Scotiabank
Visa: Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Freedom, Bank Americard Cash

Do a search for "EMV" here. You'll find the threads where this has been discussed earlier. EMV security is just starting to be used in the US although it's been the normal in Europe and elsewhere for years. I'm currently waiting for my Amex Platinum and BankAmericard Rewards cards, both of which are supposed to support EMV.
Cards:
American Express Platinum (NPSL)
Penfed Platinum Reward Visa ($28K)
Chase Freedom Visa ($25K)
Fidelity American Express ($20K)
American Express Blue Cash Preferred ($20K)
Bank of America Cash Rewards MasterCard ($20K)
Citi Thank You Preferred Visa ($9.5K)
Chase Sapphire Preferred ($7.5K)
US Bank Cash + Visa Signature ($7K)
Discover IT ($4K)

I'm pretty sure the major banks have them, including Amex, Chase, Citibank and Bank of America. By 2015 I expect all my cards to have the chip.
