Discover credit limits?

Postby jupiter » Thu Jan 10, 2013 7:01 pm

I was wondering, does Discover do limits under 1,000? I'm a grad student who works as a substitute teacher, and I make around 700/month. Could I get a Discover It card with that low of a limit, or would I be better off trying for CapitalOne since they're well known for low limits?

Discover does give low limits. Most Discover limits I've seen that people put under their profiles are 1500 or less. The difference is that first at least Discover will grow slowly over time - Cap One won't. Cap One has probably the worst CS in the business and Discover probably the best. Also Discover rewards are better than anything Cap One offers except possibly for their Venture card. And Discover won't continue to hold your payments for 10 days on you making the card unusable for half the month too, a final benefit to consider.
