What 2 cards would be your primary cards given my situation. I'm curious to see if I honestly have the right cards for me. Annual spend on cards is about 40-45K. I spend about $500 a month on groceries, about $200 a month on gas (for two vehicles), travel about twice a year or so. I spend about $250 a month on beer but my Amex gives me 2X points because of where I buy it. I spend about $200 a month on dining out. I also pay my car insurance, homeowners insurance, and all utility, phone, cable bills etc on the cards. I alternate months. My girlfriend is an au on these two cards and so she puts her purchases for gas and groceries on the Amex and dining on the CSP and then pays me once a month. We don't carry a balance.
My two primary cards are my Amex PRG and my CSP. I use the PRG for airfare, groceries, gas, and beer. I use the CSP for dining out, hotels, rental cars. I like that Amex backdates and I like having a charge card for credit diversity, and no utilization issues, but that annual fee seems steep. I'm just wondering if I'm using the best cards possible for my situation, or if there are any cards I may have overlooked that should be considered. Given my situation and annual spend, what card(s) would you choose?
Amex BCP 21K
Amex SPG 5K
Barclaycard Arrival Plus WEMC 5K
Chase Sapphire Preferred 23.5K
Credit Union 10K
Discover IT 7.75K
