Whats next? Foreigner just started building and establishing

Postby NewLeaf » Thu Dec 13, 2012 9:40 pm

Hello All, :D

Just registered. Will update my profile soon. The following question is on behalf of my wife, who is new to the country and just received her SS# earlier this year. Here is a breakdown:

March 2012 Applied for Cap One Secured Card. Denied due to lack of history. (Hard pull #1)

August 2012 Applied for BofA Secured Rewards Card.Approved! (Hard Pull #2)

Oct 2012 Applied to rent property (Hard pull #3)

Dec 2012 Applied to increase BofA card limit from $ 350 to $ 500.Approved (Hard Pull #4)

Dec 2012 Applied for Unsecured Cap One Platinum MC. Approved @ $500 limit, no annual fees! (Hard Pull #5)

Question,

Would it be detrimental to her score to apply for another card?
What would be the next easiest card to obtain at this point? Someday we would like to get a Air Mileage Rewards Card, is it too early to expect to be approved for such a card, which are the easiest Mileage cards to get approved with?

Thank you Thank you Thank you to anyone that replies.

Personally, I'd wait and build history with your existing cards until next August. I wouldn't think that applying for a credit limit increase would be a hard pull, but I could be wrong. If you waited until next August and pay in full on time every month until then, you shouldn't have to worry about what air mileage card is easiest to get, you can simply apply for the one you want.
Amex Platinum
Amex BCP 21K
Amex SPG 5K
Barclaycard Arrival Plus WEMC 5K
Chase Sapphire Preferred 23.5K
Credit Union 10K
Discover IT 7.75K

I was a little surprised too when the BofA rep said it would be a hard pull as well. Haven't confirmed if what they said was true or not yet.

I'll take your advice about waiting until Aug, but which is the next easiest card to obtain that has no annual fee, besides the Capital One Platinum MC?
