Emergency bereavement credit limit increase?

Postby PoconoWoodsman » Tue Dec 11, 2012 11:13 pm

Does anyone know if Cap one, or Discover, or Visa /Mastercard offer a program for an emergency increase in credit line, to travel out of state to handle emergent Bereavement issues, or a Dying Mom ?

As the last surviving son, I feel I should be there, But THINGS ARE TIGHT (RIGHT?)

Although I have a near excellent rating now, with No Lates ever, The time I've had No fee cards, is short, It's at the 3 yr point or a bit longer, plus I've got every other card molded by Sears,Lowes,Depot,Wallymart ,all paid on time, but all get minimums unless more attention is needed. ( and a fully paid mortgage on record )

However, the Cards I presently have and could use for this, Cap,Disc,Visa, etc. Are stretched pretty high in balance, and I don't want to jeopardize My on time payments, or the amount of the minimum ea. mo. (although I probably wont have to worry about that in just a few months, though I hate thinking that way.)

Shes safe, alone, was in a nursing home past 6 weeks now, transferred to hospital this a.m. W/ congestive Hrt Failure, and not expected frankly to live past this coming saturday.

I gotta go, Didn't expect this to turn so quickly, but shes in bad shape, and I should be there with her, as no one should die alone without a loved one present. but I need a cushion to do so safely for my own finances right now, and not create a burden on Other younger Family either if don't have too..

What a dilemma, and serious advice is welcomed. Thanks. Please answer A.S.A.P. if possible. T.Y !

Best wishes always ! PoconoWoodsman

If I was you, I'd call the card customer svc number of the card you have the lowest balance with, and explain to them your situation. I don't think this is a predictable circumstance. It'll be up to your card company.
