666 credit score (TransUnion) Where should I go from here?

Postby WallyxD » Wed Nov 28, 2012 11:45 pm

I have 11 credit inquiries on my reports. 9 of them were from last summer (application for student loans, i was unaware of how much inquiries hurt at the time). I have a retail card with a 175$ limit. I got approved for that card two months ago.

I was told to wait 6 months before applying for a new type of credit, and I thought about it, but I don't want to wait another 4 months. But unless you guys tell me the same thing, I'll be applying for a major credit card soon as I have started looking and comparing today.

I'm a sophomore in college, I go to school full time. I work part time. My annual income is a little over 9k. My credit history is relatively short.

I have a 666 credit score with TransUnion. My Experian score is 701. So what cards would I have a better chance at getting approved for? Which should I apply for? How much will it hurt if I don't wait the recommended 6 months?
