CreditInform vs Credit Sesame: What's The Difference?

Postby NeutralCorner » Sun Nov 18, 2012 1:29 am

Hello all!

I use two services that provide me with credit score from Experian: Credit Sesame and CreditInform.

From what I understand this is not the FICO score, but Experian's own system.

But what confuses me is that both services use the same source, there is a difference by 81 points between both sites! I also suspect that CreditInform's score still stuck on September's numbers, while Credit Sesame is updated monthly (and improving, yay!)

What causes the difference? And which of these two is closer to the FICO score in your opinion?

At one time, Creditsesame was showing my score at 684 when my real score from Experian (when I got a credit increase) showed a 669. So it was off by 15 points. CreditKarma was actually closer at the time showing it at 654.

Any site will use a model to estimate your FICO score but does not have access to the actual model used by FICO. DIfferences in the model used and the information input explain the difference in scores. I would not worry too much about the differences.
