I hope I'm posting in the right spot. I recently pulled my credit report and there are two accounts that I have no knowledge of, that are reported as charge-offs.
I hadn't pulled my credit in a while, but now that I've graduated from college and have a full time job and I'm looking into purchasing real estate, I figured its time to really monitor these things closely.
I've disputed each of these accounts with all 3 bureaus at least twice now, and they're keeping them on. I even wrote individual letters to the companies, and they are saying that the charges are legitimate because the address registered with the cards matches a previous billing address I had.
I really want to get these removed from my reports because they're tanking my scores, and it's the principal of the thing as well. The dates they are saying these accounts were opened was when I was in college with multiple roommates, living in a 3 flat building.
The only thing I can come up with is that someone used my identity including my billing address to get these cards and they just kept taking the statements/mailings out of the mail or they made them paperless or something.
Should I file a police report if I don't even know for sure who may have done this? I'm really lost at this point but I just want these accounts off my reports. Thanks in advance for any advice given.
