I screwed up and applied for the wrong credit card...

Postby dr00bie » Mon Oct 15, 2012 7:22 pm

...Should I close or leave open?

Been trying to get all of my credit accounts paid down and thought that a 0% balance transfer + $0 Transfer fee card would help out with the rest of the debt I have.

So, I signed up for a Citi Platinum Select and got approved, then I went to transfer the balance and found that I had screwed up and got a card that has a 3% transfer fee, which adds up to a little more than the interest that I will pay if I pay it off in the time span that I had planned.

Now I am not sure if I should close the account that isn't even a month old and has had no transactions posted to it, and get a card that offers no balance fee and an intro 0% balance transfer rate or if I should just suck it up and keep the account open but not use the account at all.

Thanks,
Drew
