Want to get first credit card with no annual fee?

Postby tahoebigah » Thu Sep 27, 2012 11:36 am

I need a recommendation on a card I can actually get. I would like a card that has no annual fee. I have never had a credit card before. I really want an Amex but I have read that you have to have a few rotating accounts first. credit score from 4 months ago 670- 715 between all 3.

Credit Report
3 signature loans 3k each all paid off
one car loan 16k paid off
one car loan 22k to go
mortgage 92k to go.
no late payments or dings on all three reports

I know this is a noob post but I have done tons of looking and I just dont want to waste a hard pull and get denied. Thanks in advance!!

I'd say that the Discover More was the easiest one for me to get, and my girlfriend also got the More with a very short to no credit history. It's a 5% rotating cash back card but has a low cash back of .25% for non-category purchases. It is also my 2nd highest limit card so I'd say it would be a good start for sure and their customer service is great too. Just my opinion though

tahoebigah have you thought about any lower level cards like a TD bank , the hudson valley, key bank, citizens or M&T bank.
these are lower level credit cards, the vice president of shortline, the vice president of coldstone, Burgerking don't have these cards
but for somebody who doesn't have any cards at all this is a place to start.

what about your local bank a bank of tennesse , where you have your checking account have you tried any of those places.

theres a card called Orchard it's for people like you who have no credit , they give credit lines of around 500. it might not be what you like
but it's somewhere to start.

another idea do you like to shop at stores like Banna republic, kohls , gap, Macys , JCpenny ect? if so these stores have both charge cards
and credit cards, this Macys American Express makes a lot more sense then the basic Blue cash, Blue or clear card. these are
suggestions that are aproiapate for you.
