21 male want to start building credit the right way

Postby Jsalvador » Fri Aug 24, 2012 5:42 pm

Hi, everyone. Like i stated in the title i am 21 years old and i wish to start earning credit as soon as possible. Not that i really need it at the moment. I would just rather insure my future. I just don't know how to get started.

I have an apartment and i just paid the sixth month of my car loan. And from what i have heard my cell phone and utility bills aren't going to make a difference. I don't know if it is jusg mislead information but it doesn't seem to be affecting my score. My car loan on the other hand is. I was recently offered a credit line through my bank(wells fargo) but was denied once i applied. The banker did however, mention that if i were denied i could come back and apply for a secured card.

Should i wait to apply? Or maybe stay away from them all together? I do not have a lot of guidance from those around me and i don't want to make a mistake. Maybe there's a better/easier way?
