Complete ineptitude of Discover

Postby jeffysdad » Thu Aug 23, 2012 4:54 pm

I called a FOURTH time to request that my More card be converted to IT after previously being told that it would be when my statement cycled (that conversion never happened).

Today when I called I was told that the conversion would happen when my statement cycles yet again. That is exactly what they said when I started this little odyssey. Discover has failed miserably to perform the most simple task, something they should be glad to do as it means someone wants to embrace their new product.

When I told them to just close the account the rep said she would have to transfer me again to do that (after arguing with me about why I shouldn't close the account). At that point I hung up. Discover has wasted way too much of my time. There are far better options for card acceptance, rewards and customer service. Complete fail, Discover.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

I did my PC using online chat. Phone based CSR tends to be inadequately trained.

Yeah I have never been a big fan of discover or BofA. On that note, Amex just won JD powers customer satisfaction award again lol.
