Crazy question, as most of you know I applied for a Bank of America secured card and I got what I thought was a rejection letter from them, I threw it in the trash so I can't go back and check. I applied online maybe 2 weeks ago and I noticed they took the $300 security deposit out of my bank account. My Cousin wanted to check and he said it appears they haven't done a hard pull on my credit, but it showed Capital One did. I got an approval letter from Capital One and an e-mail yesterday that my card was in the mail and I should have it in a few days.
So does Bank of America normally take a long time, 2 to 3 weeks to make a decision? I wasn't concerned until I noticed money was taken from my bank account shortly after I filled out the application. Nothing was said about how I get my money back if not approved. How long should I wait and do I have to call or write to get my money back?
The reason for questioning the letter if I remember correctly, it said I have a credit score of 127 and if I remember correctly they said their scale went from -5 to 298. It also said that I have 0 open accounts reporting a positive history and they require at least 2 accounts in good standing. The problem is, it's in the trash so we don't know exactly what it said or who it was from, I just thought it looked like something from Bank of America. I know it didn't say anything about getting my deposit back. I got locked out of my online banking for guessing the wrong password too many times (small town bank) and I had to wait for them to mail me the info to get back into my account which finally arrived today and it's when I discovered the $300 had been taken out. Just FYI, I applied maybe a few days after applying for the Capital One secured and the Capital One is already in the mail.
So now does Bank of America draw funds from your account, wait for the funds to clear then make a decision? When I applied it said they would have a decision in 7 to 10 days, is there a way I can call to find out what's going on? How much longer should I wait?
