What's you favorite card for these Catagories

Postby lennyj17 » Mon Aug 13, 2012 8:23 pm

1 - Your Everyday Card....The card you use everyday for small purchases at McD, Drug Store, Transit Tickets, Lunch, Small monthly bills, etc. And that you always pay in full at the end of every Month.

2 - Your Big Ticket Card.....Card you bill big purchases to i.e Furniture, Appliances, Electronics, Vacations, Uncle Sam Payments, etc....You either pay in full or carry a balance..

3 - Emergencies Card......You don't touch this card unless necessary

4 - Simply for Reporting Purposes Card.....Cards you have laying a drawer somewhere that their only purpose is to serve your Credit Report/Score, whether its Debt2Credit Ratio, AAOA History...

For me its

1 - Citi Forward card....this card is meant to be your everyday card.

2 - Discover Card ..... Mostly will pay in full but have carried balances from time to time usually paid off in 2-3 cycles.

3 - Cap One No Hassles ...... I hate Cap One, but I do have a decent APR and a 15K CL on this card....so I keep it for emergencies...last few emergencies I was able to bill to my Discover, so Cap One is really if I have no other choice.

4 - Cap One Plat - Oldest Card/AAOA......Chase Amazon - AAOA/D2C Ratio......Chase Amtrak - D2C Ratio......PayPal/GE - D2C Ratio

1. I rotate cards based on bill cycle dates so that I never report a balance. My everyday card for now is my Amex PRG. My new Citi Forward is going to compliment this now. I use my penfed platinum rewards alot also.

2. My big ticket card as of now is my AMEX PRG as well. But, this will depend on what I am buying. I will use whatever card gets me the best rewards related to my purchase. I could see my discover card being used for electronics purchases in the fourth quarter. My new citi card would be used if I want ot purchase on Amazon. Also, I could buy gift cards towards my purchase from Kroger and use them as well. This would net me a 6% discount. I like options!

3. I don't have an emergency card, per se. I don't carry balances on most of them, so any card could be an emergency card. I know I will never touch my Kroger 123 rewards card again though. It will collect dust forever.
4. Same as number 3, I suppose. I regret getting the 123 Cash rewards card from Bank of America this year. I won't use it anymore. What a waste of an inquiry. I seriously might close it.

I've got one card right now, but in the future, If I apply for these cards and am approved this is what I would use:

1.) My current card : BOFA Cash Rewards Card or Chase Freedom
2.) Chase Sapphire or CSP
4.) Once I can upgrade to better cards, my current one will probably not be used as much.

Discover: More-7k
Amex BCE.2k- Amex SPG-5k
