Gonna take one for the team and for me

Postby MemberSince99 » Wed Aug 08, 2012 9:21 pm

I'll NEVER get it, but I really want the Chase Sapphire Preferred. I think my credit is fine but I burned them years ago and badly. They gave me a Freedom recently with a 2k limit, that probably will never grow, but hey, they didn't have to give me anything.

I know it's pushing it but this is the last card I want. I'm willing to apply and get turned down I mean see what happens and see if I can recon it, or if I'm at a dead end with Chase as far as I can go.

At least they won't FR me and blacklist me for applying.....

That 40k point sign-up bonus looks nice. Good luck.

App'd and as expected got the we need further review message, which with Chase the vast majority of the time is a decline.

Frankly it was a stupid idea, but I HAD to see....and paid for that curiousity with a wasted inquiry. Don't know if I have the heart to recon it. May be best to just move on. Not sure right now.

You have nothing to lose by reconsideration (if needed), you already have the inquiry.

Yeah man, recon that b****! The inquiry is already there, what do you have to lose? I'm sure if anyone can talk them into a recon, you would be that person... use all the recon secrets, cross your fingers, and hope for the best! Was it the Visa or Mastercard you went for?

I actually didn't see where you could choose whether it was the Visa or Mastercard so I'm not sure? They pulled TU so I see the hit for that (and the decrease of CK score, though that's kinda meaningless) this morning.

I'd be a LOT more confident if I hadn't burned them in the past but what do you even say? They will ask about it, and I can say well I have one month current great history with you, they'll be like come back to us in 6 months or so. I think this was pretty stupid in hindsight.

And it's honestly not like I really NEED the card I just felt it would be good because it's a great flight card (which my Escape is not it's a good travel card), it would set me up for the Chase trifecta someday, and it fills in the gaps of what I have nicely, plus it is a cool metal card (dumb reason I know).

Haven't decided either way, though I would bet it's a decline (usually is when you get that message from chase, a few get approved but most are declined with it). You are right I took the hit, but if I call I could well take another on EX. And still be told we remember you screwed us. On the plus side I don't think they'll do an Amex to me.....

I guess nothing to lose by calling.....

I don't think I would spend enough to get the bonus. That's why I'm hesitant. Chase sends me 3k mailers a day, so I probably have a good shot.
