Check out the softing by Amex. I'm not even a member and haven't been for 6 weeks now, and I'm blacklisted, the proof of which I'll post after this, but they are softing like crazy:

Now for the "proof" of Amex blacklisting. This is what happens when you get on their blacklist and you apply. See first the hard inquiries on EX:

Now check out my amex application status. Despite two apps in July no hard pulls, hence blacklist:

Educational for those who are interested in things like this.

That first picture is crazy. Why is Amex pulling your credit report if you are blacklisted, why does Amex still care what your credit report is like?

Main Card: Amex Platinum
For gas: Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards
For travel & dining: Chase Sapphire Preferred

When I had their cards back in the day very frequent soft hits were normal. I never understood why, but it didn't affect my credit report so I didn't care.

Amex is just another bank which likes to inflate its brand with a lot of hot air by paying tons in celebrity endorsements and high-priced newspaper and tv ads to pedal their products.

People naturally like to feel "in the club". This is why Amex positions itself as somehow "exclusive". Amex is one of many companies that position their brand this way.

Is this even legal for them to do if you don't have active accounts with them?

They were softing me so much then when I was a customer. As you can see it was pretty much every day. I closed the cards mid June which is when they stopped softing me like nuts.

I'd heard they soft new customers but I was hearing things like every week or every other week not every single day. Every day is a new one I've never heard of that before.

As to why they still pulled it a couple of days ago if I'm blacklisted, I think it might be a case of the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, as in their marketing dept doesn't know I'm blacklisted, for example. I've read accounts of people who were customers 20 years ago and hadn't had a card since who say that Amex still to this day pulls their credit now and then (every couple of months). Apparently they like to keep tabs on certain people for their own purposes most likely marketing but who knows.

That's creepy man... wonder why they won't just let it go and leave your credit alone. Is it only Experian they are softing or all of them? It's like the crazy obsessed ex girlfriend that keeps calling or checking your facebook page after you dumped her. Not that I use social networking, but just saying.
Now she's eyeless.

Well when they did most of that it was when I did have accounts. Since I closed them, the one a couple days ago was the first soft by them in a while.

Honestly I can't see a reaosn why they would soft, given I'm blacklisted and no longer a member (too bad I can't change my handle on here) but again I think that's just marketing most likely. I personally question why after you've concluded business with a lender in a satisfactory way they still have the right to soft you whenever they please, but it's no different than anyone else doing it I guess.

I would venture a guess that if Amex is softing you every day, you are heading for FR or in dangerous terrority with them at the least. And you might wonder well given that, why would they approve me for 3 cards that soon. I have no logical explanation, the Amex beast does as the Amex beast does. It's different from most, and sometimes that's good and sometimes it's a bit weird. But if you see them softing you every day, best lay low.
