Wrong address on my credit report

Postby lucasoil4u » Thu Aug 02, 2012 3:03 pm

My ex's parents address is showing up on my credit report and I never lived there. I tried to do an online dispute with experian but it wouldn't let me. Is there anyway to get this address off my report. For the other two do I need to write them a letter to get them off or what is the best way to get this changed..
Thanks

There might be a legitimate reason for that address to appear on your report. For example, the address of one of my former employers appears on my credit report because I once had a company credit card from them. Can you think of any reason this address might have been reported? Secondary residence, reference of some sort, shared credit account with your ex?
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

I've had addresses end up on my credit report simply because a merchant required my credit card issuer to have it on file so that the merchant could ship my stuff there.

This hasn't happened in a while, but in the 90's it was fairly common.

Never had anything shipped there never lived there and rarely went there. It is 2 states away. She now lives there. We never had any credit cards or anything together cause we were not married. Is there any way to dispute this. Im trying to move on and cut all ties with her but everytime I look at my credit I see that! Let me know if I can get this removed.

My ex-wife used a P.O.Box at one time when we were married, that I was completely unaware of. After our divorce and finding out about it, I challenged the address on the 3 reports. TU and EQ were fairly easy to get them to remove it, EX...not so much. I continued to dispute, they continued to show it. Finally, in a phone call to them, I challenged them to provide the documentation that they were using to varify that it was ever MY address, and requested that they send me documentation showing that I had ever in my life used or been associated with that address. Since there was nothing they could provide that showed MY NAME associated with THAT address, they had no choice but to delete. It took a while, but it is doable.
Retired, and in the process of retiring cards!
EQ = 846 EX=828 TU = 836 as of 02/2016

Update your address with your creditors. You'll be surprised how quickly and easily THAT will make it onto your reports. It's assumed by the CRAs that you are a lying scheming scumbag who is trying to plant a false address on your reports in hopes of committing a terroristic crime against credit, so they make it VERY difficult for you to update your address with them. However anyone else can put whatever they like and that isn't questioned - just note the fact that address appears as one example.

That's how I got my address to update. I tried dealing with the CRAs and ran into the same mentality you did. I then just updated it with my creditors and BOOM problem solved.
