Barclaycard Reconsideration Line = Fail

Postby agp » Tue Jul 31, 2012 5:25 pm

Called twice today for Barclaycard Recon, one time using the personal recon number and one time using the business recon number. Both times the credit analyst said the same thing - I opened up too many cards in the past 3 months, one of which is Barclaycard US Airways, and therefore is unable to approve my new card.

They wouldn't even do a product change or a CL transfer... I said I wanted to use this new card for business expenses only, and will have no problem paying it off (never had a problem on personal cards either) because it will be paid for by my company. I also offered to fax in my paystub but they said it wouldn't help.
Should I call again or should I just give up?

I would give up. I admire your spirit trying to recon twice. But Barclaycard does not like new accounts or inquiries and I suspect you are just going to see more of the same, and in fact they may be watching you and AA you as it is.
Barclaycard is a company I just won't deal with in the future because of how they are about that. I find it strange that they will open a new account for someone then a few months down the road AA the person for what they had when they opened the account for them. I'm going to say that is weird.

adverse action, like closing the account or decreasing your credit limit (CLD)

I could really care less if Barclaycard closes or lowers the CL on my US Airway card. I got my 30K bonus miles in my Dividend Miles account, and haven't used my card since. I do not understand why they could not do a product change.

I suspect it's because they are less than pleased with the inquiries. They are different how they do things from most creditors.

I would give up personally. I applied for the Ring not terribly long ago and Barclaycard fed me that same crap about the numerous new accounts on both recon calls. Used all the usual tactics (making small talk, touting benefits of the card, pointing out my positive credit history, etc) and they still stopped me in my tracks and wouldn't budge about the new accounts. Jeez, what is this, marriage? Barclaycard got all upset like I'm cheating on them with PenFed and Chase. That's cool though, I have my US Airways card and got my 40k bonus already so its no big deal.

Received a new Barclaycard platinum visa card today with, guess what, a $250.00 limit! WTF! I called, asked to speak to a credit analyst and after explaining a bankruptcy on TU that does not report on the other 2 CRAs, got instantly approved to $4500!\
Not bad.
