Reconsideration = another hard credit inquiry

Postby MemberSince99 » Mon Jul 30, 2012 10:48 am

I just found out today that when I recon'd with Chase to get my Freedom, they pulled EX on the recon.

So just keep in mind you can recon but they may do another pull (and they may not tell you, as they didn't say anything to me about it).

I realize they have the right to do that, however, you should be aware you may take another hard pull.

It's like double or nothing in blackjack, except you don't get twice the reward, you get what you would have gotten without doubling.

Main Card: Amex Platinum
For gas: Penfed Platinum Cash Rewards
For travel & dining: Chase Sapphire Preferred

True. Except if you don't do it, you get nothing at all. I guess it's a risk you run so it's best to know they may pull another one before you decide to recon and you can decide if you want to risk that. I'm not sure how it will pan out, it's my smallest limit card and who knows if it will ever grow.

For the record, they did the same thing with me when I reconed for my Freedom. First pull EQ, recon pull EX.

They told me they were going to do another pull when I asked them to reconsider my limit.

Are you still planning to go for the CSP next year?

If that was directed towards me then yes, absolutely. I keep encountering setbacks though. Had the unfortunate experience of a kohls charge card actually getting approved which will further drag down my AAoA, but hey, what's another month or so of waiting?

How did that happen? It's not really a bad thing, though it is Crap One which means forget about CLIs.

lol I applied for the card to get an additional 15% off when I bought my fiance's permanent engagement ring the other day and I was crossing my fingers so hard for a decline, but then they came back with an approval for $1000. So that was an FML moment but at the same time I essentially stole that ring, so you take the good with the bad I suppose.
