Can you get a credit card before starting a job?

Postby rbmaze » Wed Jul 25, 2012 10:19 am

I recently graduated from college and will be starting a job in less than a month. I do have a credit card but would like to get a better one with a higher limit.

Is it possible to explain that I will be starting a job very soon and include my salary information in the application? I cannot find any information on getting a card with a future job.

Put down your self employed and you make $XXXX per year and cross your fingers !!

If you got good FICO and credit history you've got a shot.
Cap! QuickSilver VISA 2005 $6500
Chase Freedom MC 2006 $5000
Amex Sky 1999 $2000
BCE 1999 $8800
NFL 2013 $1500
Discover IT 2013 $3500
FICO July 16/2012 ---- 742 Experian (Amex)
BK comes off ---- 9/2014

I would think that if you know for sure that you have a job lined up then go ahead and put the income you got in your contract with the company you are going to join.

When I appd for my cards I put income that i did not have on had but from what I knew for sure I was going to make in the future.

I just got the card not to long ago and they gave me the 2500 to start with so I haven't had to deal with getting a CLI yet or don't even know if I would ever need one in the near feature because it isn't really my main card. I am trying to use my freedom because it is 1% cash back on everything unlike discovers tear policy.

From what I have read though it really depends on the person you talk to because some people go from like 500 to 5000 is no time but some people never get pass a certain point.
