Anyone receving credit card offers lately?

Postby DGenerateKane » Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:31 pm

I used to get several a month until these last few months where I received zero. That is until 2 weeks ago Discover sent me an offer for their More Card. Then I received another offer from Discover for the same card, the invitation # was slightly different but everything else was the same including the respond by date for this "special offer." Discover must really want my business.

I'd probably be getting plenty of firm offers if I hadn't opted out of receiving those.

I've got a bunch from Citi lately. I guess with all that money they can afford to do that again!

Discover I think is still sending credit card offers because they are the healthiest probably of the big issuers. They got a big antitrust settlement from Visa and MasterCard last year so they are flush with billions in cash from it.

I still receive one from time to time but the number of credit card offers and applications I get in the mail has probably decreased by more than 80%. Being that I have excellent credit that is saying a lot about the state of this economy.

The only thing that sucks though about charge cards is the annual fee.....

I love the annual fee. Especially when I call their customer service and they speak english. Every CC I had so far besides AmEx and Discover had their support somewhere outside of the US. Frankly, it matters to me that I get somebody on the phone who speaks english and is employed in the USA.

Also, how many people fall for not paying the entire balance by the end of the month and have to pay interest which often is more than the $35, $125 or even $450 charge card fee (annually).
