Side note: Great... I just checked Credit Karma and it told me my chances of being approved for a CSP are "good".... Must... wait... for Discover... to report... 0 balance!

Not to burst your bubble but it told me my chances of approval for Freedom were "very good", which helped sway me to apply. As you know I was denied outright and denied on recon and had to recon twice before I got an analyst who liked what she saw and pushed it through (and this is very important with lenders like Chase, Barclays is another one like this).

So I wouldn't put much stock in what CK says, honestly most of their advice is worth about what we pay for it. May I respectfully suggest maybe getting Freedom first as a foot in the door to CSP? You'll probably have to recon but keep at it, I'm living proof that it can be done. You have some nice cards and history. You may just need to speak with the right rep.

lol I know I really do take CK's word with a grain of salt. My plan is to aim high first and if they deny me for the CSP asking them if I would possibly qualify for any other cards. Do you think this will work for me, or will they pull an Amex on me and auto-deny me after one denial? I really just want that sign up bonus. And having a metal card in my wallet would be a nice bonus benefit too.

They may not auto deny you, but it will be another inq and they may see that previous apply and denial and decide to make you wait a bit. I'd really suggest, and I'm not an expert by any means, but getting your foot in the door with them and building some history. Then you should be able to get the CSP. If they've already denied you for Freedom, I don't see them giving you the CSP. I don't think they'd have given it to me either right now. But after a year of good history, I'd bet we could both get it.
