Congrats on the approval my friend. It'll absolutely grow with you in time as long as it's handled responsibly as you know. I'd honestly just leave the limit alone for the time being, make a couple payments a month if need be, and enjoy your rotating 5% categories.

So my question to you guys is, can you recon the limit when you get the card? Will it grow with time? It's my smallest limit card and not really high enough to be my heavy hitter honestly, at least not yet, but will it grow with time?

no credit expert here, but I would wait six months to a year before asking for a credit limit increase. I might be wrong (and correct me someone if I am) but doesn't chase always do a hard pull for cli?

The rep I spoke with told me that any time you are applying for new credit in any way shape or form, including line increases, it would be a hard pull with Chase.

Thanks for the replies guys I'd heard that a CLI is always hard with Chase too, with very rare exceptions. I'll leave it alone for now, I had heard of people reconning the limit as soon as they got the card but I don't want to rock the boat TOO much right off the bat with them. I'm glad to get back in with Chase and appreciate the helpful things you guys have posted as well.

Sure thing buddy. This whole thread has got me having the get-back-in-with-Chase itch too. I've been looking at the Sapphire for a while now but 5% on restaurants this quarter is lookin' pretty nice on the Freedom. I reckon you combine the Freedom with the More and that US Bank Cash+ card and you'll get 5% on just about anything!

I heard that US Bank is inq sensitive? I thought about that Cash+ card but I already have a Visa Sig card, not sure if I can justify going for two of them, as nice as the US Bank card seems. But it had caught my eye as it caught yours. I'm just not sure I can justify that even when the inqs fall off. Are you going to apply for it?

Oh there is one more thing of interest here. For those who are interested which CRA Chase pulled for the Freedom on me, it was TU.

I won't be applying personally. There's no way in hell I'd be approved for a card like that. Since I don't even have any cards with limits high enough to qualify for a Visa Signature yet, I figure I'll try Chase first with the Sapphire since I at least have a prior relationship with them. Plus if US Bank is really inquiry sensitive I might as well already have the denial letter before I even start -- my EQ report has 15 inquiries on it from the past 2 years.

Good info on the TU pull as well. When I put my app through I'll have to remember to request the recon line to pull my TU report. I only have 2 inquiries on there. I figure I'll be ballsy and try and go for the CSP (fat chance!) and Freedom to start with and work my way down from there.

Yeah I wouldn't either, not for at least 6 months due to inquiries. To be honest I think I'd rather get a CSP anyway if anything. So, good luck with getting in with them, it's a goal we both have it looks like!

By the way when you recon do they do another hard pull or use what they have? I didn't think to ask.

Not unless you're either pulling a refreshed report from the same bureau (you have the option to do this if you believe your CR will show a positive change within 30 days) or reconing from a different CRA than they initially pulled, in which case it would be one hard pull on each. If it's just a matter of escalating the existing application to be reviewed further they're just using what they have.
