Blockbuster advertising Citi Card

Postby DGenerateKane » Mon Feb 09, 2009 9:27 pm

Among my receipt from Blockbuster was an advertisement for the Citi PremierPass Card. The promotion they are advertising is a $50 gift card after qualifying purchase that can be used at Blockbuster or anywhere.

Seems like a weird thing for them to be advertising.

Either Blockbuster is hard up for cash or Citi has lots of bailout cash to spend :ppp

I notice Citi pushing these gift cards big time right now as signup offers for opening bank accounts, checking, savings, credit card etc. But you should read the fine print on them because they say you need to do things first like auto-billpay for 3 bills a month for 6 months before you qualify to get the free gift cards. Screw that...

It's ever since that Kerkorian got his hands on Blockbuster. That man will pimp that baby out for every last drop of milk its got. Pretty soon we will be seeing McD's do the same with their happy meals if this economy keeps going the way it is.

From the best of my knowledge, Kerkorian is a minority, yet significant, owner of Blockbuster. I would not be the least bit surprised if his seats on their board pressured them to get more aggressive with their generation of revenue. During the climax of credit we saw a number of unlike businesses peddling credit cards. If Blockbuster was doing this back in 2005 I would not be the least bit surprised. What amazes me is that they are pushing credit cards during a time like this.
