I was an intern for Amex's marketing department in my home country back in 2007, but credit works a lot different than here
Amex: Business Platinum (09/12) BCP $10,500 (03/13)
Visa: Capital One Journey $750 (04/11) Chase Freedom $1,800 (04/12)
MasterCard Citi AAdvantage Platinum Select $8,500 (05/13)
Discover: Discover It $2500 (07/11)

i worked in major financial institutes. mentioned here:

we had the option of investing within the company but was encouraged to have our money managed by other firms. this is due to conflict of interest when sh*t hits the fan.

a friend of mine is a senior legation specialist in a fortune 100 auto insurance company. they recommend employees to purchase insurance from other providers for the same reason. for this they do not offer any discounts.

i'm sure cc companies are aligned the same way.
