Buyers remorse?

Postby FutureBillionaire » Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:59 pm

What credit card do you regret signing up for? For me it is the Kroger credit card. The rewards are terrible and only come quarterly. I would close it if I didn't have it already for nearly 2 years and have a decent limit on it.

I kind of regret jumping on the Citi Diamond Preferred after I got the mailing offer for it. They did give me a pretty decent starting CL, but there are no rewards and the 0% on purchases is honestly unnecessary temptation at this point.

My Open Road Discover. It is rarely competitive compared to my other cards and the CL is the pits, by far the lowest CL of my cards.

I could convert it to the More but my Chase Freedom has gas in the same quarters this year.

(Why did I get it? Because at that time it gave a straight 5% rebate on gas.)

I also have the Kroger Credit card. I got it 4 months ago. I'm not sure if this was at the time they were switching over to make the rewards really crappy or if I just read the fine print wrong... but I just recently noticed how terrible it is.

Since I only had it for 4 months would closing it affect my credit score?
AMEX: Blue Cash Preferred (6% on groceries, 3% gas & dept stores)
Capital One: Venture (2 points per $1, equivalent to 2%)
Chase: Freedom (rotating 5% categories), Disney Rewards (1 point per $1, Disney benefits)
US Bank: Cash+ (5% bookstores / 5% Electronic Stores)

If you got few other cards open go ahead and close it won't do much damage.
If you don't have other cards go ahead and open one at 6th month mark and close Kroger after.

Capitol One secured - $275 limit at 8 months. It would have been smarter to apply for a secured card that could graduate...

Amen to that. I could have sworn that CapOne said the secured card could graduate.....

I would close it unless you have a sizable limit on it. They give fantastic balance transfer offers, so I use it for that.
