Decided to build my wallet yesterday- New to the forum!

Postby JMK » Thu May 31, 2012 3:52 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am already a big fan of this forum and really appreciate the wealth of knowledge and advice here.

The other day I received an upgrade offer for Cash Rewards card from Capital One from a MC Platinum I opened with them when I was in College. I inquired about the upgrade and while doing so they asked why I did not use the card, and I told them that the credit limit was too restricting and so I asked for a CLI. Of course with Cap1 it was denied, which kind of pissed me off. Long story short, I got ansy and decided to apply for a couple new cards to diversify my wallet.

I already have a Discover More and AMEX Zync, so I really wanted to get a nice Visa and an Amex CC. I splurged and went for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and AMEX BCP. Got approved for both and should be receiving them in a week or so. What a great feeling! Can't wait for the 6x on groceries and 3x on gas + the travel perks of Sapphire Preffered (Travel a lot for business). Looks like the 2 Cap1 MC Platinums are going in the sock drawer! If they weren't my first credit cards, I would probably of just closed the accounts. Looking forward to contributing to this forum often.

welcome to the forum! discover more, zync and sapphire preferred are good cards to have. keep the capital one and mc in the sock draw and don't close them. the longer you have credit the better it'll be for you.

Great job. I don't think you will miss Cap 1 very much. You have some great cards to work with now, ones that will grow with you and serve you well for a long time to come.

Agree about capital one, I have plenty of friends that have them, but once the card expires they aren't planning to renew or use capital one again.

The Chase Sapphire Preferred is a good card if you're traveling, nice sign-up bonus too.
