Dotexe, what did Barclays say if you called them? They didn't try and deduct the bonus miles after you closed the account? Not sure if they are allowed to do that, but just asking.

I got this card with the same offer you did back in May and have only been charging small monthly amounts (around $100) and paying off immediately, got a lot of new cards afterwards, and thankfully haven't had them pull anything like that.

I would have called them about the CLD, but at least you got the opening bonus and you can get another bonus from Barclays down the road.

Barclays gave me a low CL (under $5k) for my new Priceline card (and my first Barclays card). I asked for a CLI the day I got the card and, after asking about my recent card acquisitions, they increased the CL by about 50%. They asked for six months of history with the card and said they'd then give me a higher CL than I asked for.

@ hematino They could not give my any acceptable reason for CL decrease (they talked about my score, new credits - I pay off my balances every month !!). With the reduced limit I would not be able to buy international round trip ticket for my family. I used the card for about 5 months. During the closure which I initiated, CSR said they would let me open another card in future but only with my current closing limit. Finally CSR offered me that I could get my initial CL back. But I refused as I was pissed off about my first CLD. Maybe my case is isolated.

They did not deduct the miles after I closed the card.

@ DavidNY Good for you.

I keep seeing these Reuters stories online about Barclays accompanied by a photo of one of the bank's buildings. Except instead of saying "Barclays" at the top of the building it says "arclays," liked they had to pawn the "B" or something.
American Express: Blue Cash Preferred (groceries, 6%; gas, department store, 3%); Gold Delta SkyMiles (Delta Air Lines, 2 miles/dollar, free checked bag).
US Bank: Cash+ (utilities, phone, internet, restaurant, 5%; drugstores, 2%).
FIA Card Services: Fidelity Amex (everything, 2%); Fidelity Visa (everything, 1.5%).
Chase: Freedom (rotating, 5%); Amazon (Amazon.com, 3%); PriorityClub (IHG hotels, 5 points/dollar); Sapphire (not in use).

*All cards are registered with PriorityClub IDine program for 8 points/dollar at participating restaurants.

That's some sneaky underhanded stuff right there. First saying you could open another card in the future with a limit of the closing limit you had, and then when you didn't bite, offering to restore your original credit limit. Oh well at least its only Barclays. Other than churning reward bonuses, Barclays doesn't have very many competitive cards. Guess there are a couple, but of their offerings are mostly churn fodder.

Oh, lol I didn't realize it was the same thing-- it does look like a formidable 2% juggernaut of a card. I wonder if Barclays would allow a product change after a year or so with the US Airways card. Probably not but I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask.
