Profiling what card is used for???

Postby magyar1045 » Tue Jan 27, 2009 11:15 am

A credit card company just reduced my credit limit. While that has been the norm for quite a while now because of the recession/depression, and banks fearing a huge surge in bankruptcy filings - this card's reasoning was based on my spending habit/account usage.
I've had this card for a little more than a year. And only had seven charges.
One leadfoot speeding ticket - which I paid for with one of those convenience checks.
Three online cigarettes purchases.
Three tickets to Oakland Raiders football games this past football season.

By the way - if any Arizonians read this post - GO CARDINALS.

Wait they actually said the reasoning was your spending habits?! Who did that??!

I haven't had mine cut [yet] but I have a feeling a couple will be cut especially my Chase card because I don't use it.

Did you have a balance on your card when they cut the limit? Were the online cig purchases from another state or another country? I always hear that any foreign orders on a credit card will be viewed sometimes as a red flag.

Oh yeah and about those Cardinals :D why do so many hate them? Everyone tries claiming it's only a fluke they made it this far. Shouldn't more be rooting for the QB who is a success story that gives hope that its possible to finally make it after years of going nowhere?

Yep - spending habits. When they lowered my limit from $1250 to $1000 I had a balance on there of about $750. It was Junipercard/Barclaysbank.
Those online cigs were from overseas.
Raiders lost all those games that I went to.
That speeding ticket - 90 in a 70 mile zone going from Sacramento down south to Bakersfield.

My heart is with the Cardinals.

Well..... I guess everything about that credit card then has been bad luck!!! At least tell me you received the cigs OK and they didn't get lost in the mail!! ;)

I bet it was the overseas thing that did it. It could be because the amount of credit line used was high but they would have said that if it were the reason I think. Well either way that is stupid they did that.

and keep your fingers crossed on the Cardinals I want them to win too....

I would recommend if you can to get a Paypal debit card (they're free) for your Paypal account and use that when paying for int'l orders like that. Most debit cards could work too. I hate that it comes down to you having to do that but that way since it's on a debit card it won't be used for any profiling like it is on your credit card.

MSNBC is reporting the odds are 70% expecting Pittsburgh to win and only that the cardinals will.

All I have to say is that 70% are in for a surprise :ppp

Did you see the game?!! This was total BULL!!! How about in the 4th quarter when that dude from Pittsburgh starts punching and kicking a Cardinals player when he's down on the ground. THat's insane he was outright attacking him how come he didn't get thrown outta the game?!   Too many missed calls like that and the refs were obviously bias against Arizona!!! When we scored that last touchdown with 2 mins 30 secs left in the 4th quarter I was excited but at the same time pissed knowing there was enough time for the other team to score but not enough time for us to score again. Both teams I think played crappy but the Cardinals at least played clean.

I think there was another thread about something like this. The store I keep hearing popping up when they talk about credit card profiling purchases is Wal-Mart. Every time I hear about this it's something about Wal-Mart in there. If a credit card tried pulling a stunt like on me I'd dump them.
