AMEX usually pulls Experian (especially for charge cards). The Chase recon number is different than talking to normal CSR.

Two Chase Recon numbers from myfico:
Chase: 888-270-2127 (App recon)
Chase: (Credit Analyst - Recons)
Amex Centurion, Amex Platinum, Amex BCP 8k->24k (5/23/12), Amex TE 15k, Cap One 1.5% 15k->20k (8/7/13), CSP 25k, Chase Palladium 100k, Citibank AA 35k (AU), Firestone 1.8k->2.2k->2.4k (8/20/12), JFCU Jloc 30k, PenFed Plat Rewards 30k, SF Fire 30k, US Bank Cash+ 25k

I find Chase is all over the place in terms of bureau pulls. AMEX seems to lean towards Experian, especially for charge cards. Really surprised they pulled Equifax for you. Might be first time I have heard of that for charge card.

Not necessarily, but each bureau can have different information. For example, on my Experian report, I have 3 hard inquiries, 2 on TransUnion and 11 (yes, eleven) on Equifax. Information like that can be a make-or-break when it comes to pricing a loan, or even getting an app approved to begin with. I've also heard that some lenders will only report certain types of loans to specific bureaus, i.e. some companies only report auto loans to TransUnion. Sometimes though if you catch a rep from a backdoor line they may be able to pull a report from a bureau other than the one they initially pulled which can come in handy if one report contains more favorable information than the other.
