Why does Amex love me but Chase doesn't want my business?

For just about anything you want to get off your chest about credit cards.

Any card company that 'rejects' me can take their card and shove it. There is no need for anyone to chase after a credit card. Hell, business is so bad they should be lucky we want to even carry their cards.

My advice is..... get the cards you qualify for and use them. Stop card collecting and don't get too fixated on the brands. Every card company has some sort of screening process. If you don't qualify for one, move to the other!

I just got the letter in the mail, and I wish I was declined... a $500 CL. What the **** do I do with that... They cited on one Citi card I have a high utilization, and that I may increase my limit at any time. The Citi card has 18 months of 0% APR, and it's only at 75% because I bought a TV. I thought they'd see 2 CL of 6k or bare minimum of 2,500.

I don't even want this card with a $500. It's insulting. I guess I'll see this as a positive as a way to produce a decent relationship with Chase.

Once again, did you call on Chase recon phone number? You just need you are showing high util on one card because of 0% BT that is dropping your score temporarily.

Yeah, Chase sucks. In between the two times I applied for and was denied CL increases on my Freedom card, Discover increased my CL on my More card twice automatically without me asking for it.

Same Chase Issue

Postby nedyah700 » Tue Jun 12, 2012 12:36 am

Same problems with Chase. AMEX loves me 30k C/L on delta platinum and also the standard AMEX platinum. Chase however wants nothing to do with me. Don't understand why all my scores are above 780.

COUGH. Why aren't people calling Chase Recon telephone number? At the very least, you will get a better idea what issue they have with you.

On that note, for what it's worth the two representatives I've spoken to on that line have been very courteous and helpful, even though I'm far from heavy-hitter status as far as credit goes. So even if they still can't approve you at least you won't have the displeasure of dealing with some random curmudgeony CSR who doesn't give a crap about you (or at least shows that they don't).

When I contacted them it was because I was an AU on another AMEX charge card. And the entire card balance is reported so it made it seem as if it was all my balance. They took that as me "living beyond my means". When I explained that, and it took about three reps, they told me to reapply and fill out a bunch of extra forms. So my give-a-f*** meter was broken by that point and I never pursued it.

Possible...

Postby sfoboy85 » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:54 pm

The possible reason why they operate differently is because while AMEX pulls your Equifax as credit report and rely on that (not just that but in terms of credit reports), Chase pulls your Experian and not Equifax....

It is very likely that that's the case... Crashem is right though, if you feel that they are stupid (which they certainly are), just call the recon line, you can't lose, but do it WITHIN 30 days of your rejection/approval decision!
AMEX Platinum - NO preset limit!
