Despite getting approved by Discover it and Citi Forward for healthy amounts, I got shot down by Chase Freedom.
I called the recon line and a woman said my BK (8 years old) affected the decision, as well as my not "re-establishing" myself with not just credit cards, but personal loans and car loans.
I thought it odd. I've had 3 steady credit cards since my BK I've paid 10's of thousands of dollars on time with no problems for 8 years! That's not re-establishment?
I told her I live in Chicago and have no need for a car -- which is true. I was upside down on a car loan for a lemon vehicle to the tune of $20,000+ and was advised to file BK to get from under it. Of course, credit cards were swept up in the BK, as well.
She pulled from Trans Union, which always displays the worst of everyone. (Why do they exist!?
I'll wait for the letter, look over my credit report, and try the recon line again, perhaps asking for a lower CL that normal.
Also, will the decline from Chase show on my credit and can that persuade others to not extend me credit?
