FKFCU rejected my application. I reviewed it (should have done it before I applied) and realized that I put $40,000 instead of $4,000 as my requested loan amount. (When) should I try my luck again? Should I apply for PenFed's cash back platinum now, and then try FKFCU later? Or just try FKFCU again and request maybe $2,000 CL?

Nice thing about credit union is that you can call. So call them and see if you can get them to reconsider

They asked for a copy of my driver's license, social, and paystub. But I don't have a fax machine, and I'm too afraid to email scanned images of important documents like that.

Lots of fax machines at your local copy shop. Pretty sure you can get access to fax machine somehow.

You could go to most local credit unions and tell them you're a member at Ft Knox and need to send a fax securely as you do not trust local copy shops. They'll let you do it as a courtesy.

Just sent them everything as requested. If I do not get approved I would be very shocked.

Are you employed by Army CivPro or a contractor?

Well that is what I was asking. DoD direct, Army Civilian Program or Dept of Army Non-Uniformed Service. It may make a difference in helping to get you approved on your employment status and if they generate you an actual "LES" versus some other pay method.

I'm not sure but if I had to guess, and my guess is based on not much, I have to say DoD direct.
