Easiest unsecured credit card to get?

Postby Oren » Sun Apr 08, 2012 5:08 pm

I do have Capital One secured credit card with $450 limit, have had it for 7 months. I also have Chase Freedom with $500$ limit, have had for 1 month.

That's all the credit history I have. It's a fresh credit history since I got my SSN 1 year ago. My score right now 723.

I think that the best way to have more history is to get more credit cards? Am I right? What's the easiest unsecured credit card to get approved for?

Thanks for your help,
Oren in California

It would be a low interest card like the Chase Slate, another might be the American Express clear card. Also try your local bank.

I don't know the name of Capitol1's or Bank of America's low interest cards.

Store cards are generally easier to get. Given your situation, 2 cards are fine to build your initial credit. You probably just need to garden a little while so there balances can report.

My recommendation is to use your freedom card often and pay often. In a few months, call them for a CLI. At the same time, go ahead and apply for a better card.
Amex Centurion, Amex Platinum, Amex BCP 8k->24k (5/23/12), Amex TE 15k, Cap One 1.5% 15k->20k (8/7/13), CSP 25k, Chase Palladium 100k, Citibank AA 35k (AU), Firestone 1.8k->2.2k->2.4k (8/20/12), JFCU Jloc 30k, PenFed Plat Rewards 30k, SF Fire 30k, US Bank Cash+ 25k

Last weekend I had some time on my hands when I was at my local mall at Paramus park. So I was thinking about everyone here. I asked a salesperson this question - they said you have to have a drivers license and a major credit card. I asked the person what if somebody is between the ages of 19 and 24 and they want to apply for their first card.

I guess since it has 24.99% interest. You would think since you can only use the card in Macys it wouldn't be a problem.

Oren when you asked me about the Macy's card did you mean the charge card or Macy's American Express credit card?

You would think the Macy's card would be easier to get than a M&T credit card. You would think getting a Lord&Taylor, Talbots, J Crew or JCP would be easiest card to get.

(not in Macy's eyes)
